License Plates

Overview

License Plates are a key component in managing your Warehouse, bridging the gap between inventory and Locations.

License Plates

License Plates represent a group of Materials. These Materials will typically be grouped together on a pallet or in a container, so you can think of the License Plate itself as a label on the container, to identify it and its contents.

Materials are tracked by License Plates, such that the Location and Status of a License Plate are passed on to the Materials associated with it. Materials assigned to a License Plate can all be of the same type, or can be of varying Lots, types, Projects, or Owners.

License Plates are identified by a LookUp Code, and can be created when Receiving, Moving, Picking, Packing, Adding or Adjusting Inventory, or Manufacturing.

Moves

See: Move Tasks

License Plates can be moved from one Location to another, moving their inventory along with them. Materials can be moved from one License Plate to another.

Shipping License Plates

Shipping License Plates are License Plates assigned to a Shipment, to be Shipped out of the Warehouse. License Plates become Shipping License Plates automatically once they are Picked.

Composite License Plates

See: Composite License Plates, Shipping a Composite License Plate

Composite License Plates are a group of License Plates. License Plates can be grouped together during a Move or Putaway to create a Composite License Plate, and these License Plates must all share the same Location.

Composite License Plates are typically grouped together for Shipping purposes, allowing Shipments to be created directly from the Composite License Plate. These Shipments automatically include Shipment Lines for all the inventory associated with the Composite License Plate, and Picking can be performed automatically for such Shipments.

Composite License Plates can be moved from one Location to another through a standard License Plate Move, moving along with it, to its new Location, each associated License Plate and their Materials.
